Who Are Tasha & Bina?

Get to Know Your Hosts/Co-Founders

Natasha Smith (Tasha) & Rabbina (Bina) Banks have been friends for 8 years. They actually met during a military natural hair meet-up. They are both Disabled Veterans of the United States Air Force. Their commonalities, as well as their differences, are what make this friendship work and sustain. They lovingly call each other Non-Sexual Life Partners or NSLP.

Natasha Smith

Natasha Y. Smith, the Poised Provocateur, owner of Poised Affairs Event Planning and Management as well a contributing blogger for the www.bayehiveblog.com every Thursday as Professor Poised.

A retired Air Force veteran, she served almost 15 years before physical injuries ended her career as an electronic calibration technician in December 2017. In addition to her official duties, Natasha served as an IRS certified military tax return preparer, an American Heart Association (AHA) certified military CPR instructor, and a National Organization for Victim Advocates (NOVA) certified military sexual assault victim advocate. It was during her time in the military that she discovered a passion for event planning as a member of various organizations and committees, earning herself a myriad of awards and recognitions.

Having survived sexual assault early in her military career, Natasha has and still battles not only her spinal physical limitations, but mental health issues as well. Her pen name, Professor Poised, is a result of her significant mental and emotional healing over the years. Her goal is to promote the journey to a happier and healthier self through becoming your poised self. The process involves being purposeful in action, open-minded, in-tune with self, steady in pursuits, expecting great things daily.

As a an active member and executive board seat holder at Alpha Gamma Xi Military Sorority, Inc., their mission of eradicating veteran women homelessness, supporting survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence is paramount to this veteran woman. She is also a strong supporter of women entrepreneurs. She believes women have always been at the foundation of business development and it is time they flourish at the forefront of business ownership.

Presently, Natasha is pursuing her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and building her Poised brand. In her free time, you may catch her taking in a live band, spoken word, good food or simply lending an ear and offering words of encouragement. If you are lucky, you may even run into her on one of her many spontaneous travels.

Two of her favorite inspirational quotes are, “Don't go through life, grow through life” and “It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop!" Her current philosophy sums up where she is headed. Do-You-To-Ful! (Do you to the Fullest!)

Always Poised,

N.Y. Smith

She also wanted to empower women to believe in themselves and do the things that are their passion.

Rabbina lives with a chronic pain illness due to service-connected disabilities. She wants to be empowering and an example to those that suffer as she does. Her purpose is to advocate for and be the driving force for understanding and change. In 2018, Rabbina was ordained as a minister and completed Life Coaching Certification(s) in Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Happiness. She also received an Honorary Doctorate for her studies in divinity.

Rabbina is a staunch advocate for women veterans that are homeless, displaced, and/or in need of resources (i.e. money to stop an eviction, pay past due bills, etc.). She’s able to further this advocacy by being a member of Alpha Gamma XI Sorority, Inc. as the S.H.E.R.O. Initiative Program Director. During her tenure as Program Director, she has created and implemented process and outreach that helps sustain the positive commitment she has to the women veteran community and the communities at large.

Rabbina is a business owner, graphic artist, electronics engineer and the list goes on. She is multifaceted and multitalented.
